Zazzle

We were contacted to create a visual effect for a holiday ad for Zazzle, a company that specializes in personalized gifts, allowing customers to add their own images or text to items such as mugs, pillows, and more. In the ad, a man opens a gift from his friend, revealing a mug with his friend’s face on it. The face then comes to life, talking directly to the audience about all the great things you can create with Zazzle.

We were brought in to execute this visual effect. On set, I captured 360-degree images to use as HDRIs in the 3D composite, ensuring the lighting in the scene matched perfectly and made the video of the woman appear seamlessly attached to the mug. I also assisted our technical director with motion tracking and compositing the woman’s image onto the cup using Cinema4D.
