I worked on an episode of Blake Griffin’s podcast, “The Pursuit of Healthiness,” which focused on sleep. In this episode, Blake wore an Oura Ring for several weeks and then discussed his sleep data with sleep scientist Nerina Ramlakhan. However, the production took place during the pandemic, preventing us from being present for the recordings of either Blake or Dr. Ramlakhan.
During the pandemic, many productions relied on “Zoom” recordings, but we aimed to elevate the quality despite the restrictions. We created streaming kits that included a camera, light, and microphone, all pre-assembled and easy to connect to a laptop with just two cables. We also provided detailed instructions for participants to set up the equipment independently.
The use of detached cameras significantly improved the quality compared to standard webcams and allowed for a traditional off-camera interview angle. This made the conversation feel more natural and professional than the typical webcam angles popular during the pandemic.
Additionally, our team developed a series of animated graphics to display Blake’s sleep data during the discussion. These animations helped break up the edit and added visually engaging elements to the podcast.
